Sid O'Linn
Sidney O'Linn (born 5 May 1927 in Oudtshoorn, Cape Province) is a former South African cricketer who played in seven Tests from 1960 to 1961. He was a nuggety left-hander who batted down the order, often saving the day when more illustrious names like Jackie McGlew and John Waite had been dismissed. He was a member of the South African tour of England in 1960, the first to be confronted by anti-apartheid demonstrations, and scored 98 (his highest in Tests) at Lord's before being controversially caught in the slips by Colin Cowdrey. O'Linn was also a talented footballer, having played for South Africa against Australia in 1947,〔 and later playing for Charlton Athletic in the English First Division. While playing football in England, he also played cricket for Kent.〔 == References ==
